By Liya Smolina on November 13, 2019

Last month, Merit announced its partnership with Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to streamline licensing and digital credentialing for thousands of professionals in the Commonwealth. More than 310,000 Virginia workers in more than 40 industries are required by law to have a license from DPOR to work. Merit’s platform will give these professionals an easier way to bring their licenses with them wherever they go and make the certification more accessible to consumers and businesses.

New Whitepaper: Digital Credentialing & The Future of Work

By Mike Murphy on November 8, 2019

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation will undoubtedly impact the future of America’s workforce by making many jobs easier, and others completely obsolete. However, these technologies will have an uneven impact across each industry. Occupations in professional services (legal, science, academics), and “deskless” industries such as architecture, construction, plumbing, childcare, medical services, social work, and more, are more likely to see an increase in the number of available jobs.

I Quit My Job For This?

By Marshall Broussard on November 6, 2019

Last month I started my new job with Merit, and just four weeks prior to that, I had no intention of leaving my then-current job. I had no plans to leave where I was, and frankly was excited to see various clients, projects, and initiatives taking off after much hard work. That was, of course, before I met Merit.

Merit Powers Digital Check-Ins, Course Management, and Trainings Across Virginia

By Dylan Avatar on October 31, 2019

This fall, Merit has had the opportunity to support three of Virginia’s premier professional organizations at various conferences and trainings: the Virginia Builders Summit and Expo, the Virginia ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture, the Virginia Association of Professional Soil Scientists' Fall Conference, and the 2019 VOWRA Conference and Trade Show. While these conferences drew professionals from different industries, there was one thing in common between all of the organizers we worked with and attendees we met: checking into the various sessions, classes, and trainings was a smooth process, thanks to the Check-in with Merits app.

If You Aren’t Laughing At Work, Quit.

By Jason Garcia on September 25, 2019

Hard days happen. Hell, at a start-up, hard weeks and hard months happen. But no matter what type of week you’re having, if there aren’t moments at work that make you laugh, you should evaluate if you’re in the right place. When you live every day with an expected level of uncertainty, it’s important to find humor with your coworkers and customers.

Introducing the Merit Career Skills Program for Veterans

By Jacob Orrin on September 19, 2019

Every year, hundreds of thousands of men and women leave the U.S. military service and re-enter civilian life. Unfortunately, many of these skilled individuals struggle to find employment in roles that are commensurate with the level of expertise and competence that they have acquired, and addressing this gap is something that I have become extremely passionate about.

Bulk uploads with Merit: Issue thousands of merits in minutes!

By Merit on August 7, 2019

Do you issue certificates, licenses, or credentials? More importantly, do you send them in bulk?

If your answer is yes, then you know how difficult it is to send credentials one-by-one, even if you do it digitally. That’s why Merit created a tool for this very case – spreadsheet upload, our bulk upload tool. And hey, we’ve just made some powerful improvements to make the whole process even easier!

How does this feature work?

In a nutshell, the upload spreadsheet tool enables you to send dozens (or even thousands) of merits at once.

All you have to do is follow these basic steps:

  1. Create a merit template: This template represents the credential, license, or certificate that you need to send.
  2. Upload a merit template spreadsheet to Merit: This spreadsheet should include the recipient’s name, merit title, and other important fields for your credential.
  3. Send your merits: Once your spreadsheet is fully uploaded, click Send to share them with your recipients!

What improvements have been added?

Merit has just made some helpful updates to the upload spreadsheet tool to make your life easier!

  • The feature now offers a built-in guide that walks you through each step of the process.
  • You can now download a specific spreadsheet that corresponds with the merit template you want to send so there's no need to manually add fields to your spreadsheet.
  • You can also map your merit fields to any column in your spreadsheet, even if they don’t match or aren’t in the same order.
  • In cases where your spreadsheet has errors, you can download these errors to quickly identify and fix them.

Ready to get started?

To dive in, navigate to the Send Merits folder in the Organization Portal and choose the Upload Spreadsheet tab.
