How Check-in with Merits Can Benefit Your Organization Today

By Amanda Davis on April 2, 2020

In a perfect world, states, hospitals, and volunteer organizations would be able to validate and issue merits without all of the sign-in sheets, time spent confirming participant credentials, and countless hours adding up total participant time. With the Check-in with Merits app, all this can be done in an instant.

Merit ReadyNow Expedites the License Verification Process

By Jason Garcia on March 30, 2020

The Current Process Takes Too Long

It currently takes days or weeks for a hospital’s credentialing office to perform the necessary background checks to allow medical professionals to begin work outside of their jurisdiction. For situations like what we’re facing today with COVID-19, that is time we cannot afford to lose.

Four Steps to Quick License Reciprocity with Merit ReadyNow

By Amanda Davis on March 27, 2020

The usual process of interstate licensing is known to be a long, manual, and paperwork-heavy process, but COVID-19 is striking an urgency that many have not felt before. During a time when every second counts, faster solutions are needed to allow medical professionals to get to work as soon as possible. Merit ReadyNow rises to the challenge of providing a quick solution, enabling any licensed medical professional in the U.S. to volunteer or work from any medical facility in the country for the duration of the crisis.

Why Interstate Medical License Reciprocity is Fundamental During COVID-19

By Amanda Davis on March 23, 2020

With recent city-wide shutdowns, travel restrictions, and limited testing availability throughout the country, many Americans are worried that healthcare professionals will soon be overwhelmed with the number of patients needing care. And even more so—worried about the patients unable to receive it. In response to these concerns, Merit recently announced the launch of Merit ReadyNow which makes digital interstate license reciprocity work for the entire country.

Three Ways Merit Supports the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act

By Mike Murphy on March 9, 2020

The United States Congress passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in 2014 with wide bipartisan support, to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support in order to succeed in the labor market. WOIA is responsible for reforming and injecting funding into many key programs that are critical to getting citizens ready for work.

Merit is complementary to these efforts, as our platform helps states unlock their workforce’s potential by providing a single, secure platform to issue, track, and verify credentials earned and trainings completed. As our team meets with labor and workforce partners and key stakeholders across the country, it is increasingly clear that Merit addresses many components WOIA.

Here are three specific ways in which Merit is complementary to the WIOA.

Merit’s Revenue Philosophy

By Tomer Kagan on February 13, 2020

A question we often get asked by potential partners, investors, the media, and candidates looking to join Merit is some variation of, “How does Merit make money?” Our vision is to build a network of truth and trust so everyone can shape their future, and that’s only achievable if everyone in the ecosystem gets value from Merit. Bill Gates once said, “A platform is when the economic value of everybody that uses it exceeds the value of the company that creates it,” and we strongly agree with this platform mentality. Merit is in the business of value creation, not value extraction. Therefore we are very deliberate when it comes to our monetization strategy.

Effective Testing at Merit

By Frank Wilkerson on January 29, 2020

It's rare to meet a developer that enjoys writing and maintaining test code. Often testing is seen as an additional (tedious) step to completing a story, a hindrance to the team's velocity, or yet another time sink required by their company's "Definition of Done." In my experience, this is the case when teams try to chase a specific code coverage percentage. At Merit we don't chase code coverage and we want developers to enjoy writing tests, or at least to feel the tests they write are effective.

Digital Kitting: Construction Licensing, Identification, and Verification on the Job Site

By Paul Jetter on January 24, 2020

For the past few years, the construction industry has been identified as a "laggard" when it comes to digital transformation. The old-school ways prevailed for many years while technology was applied to nearly every other industry. Even agriculture and farming adopted technology faster than construction. Recently, a lot of that has changed as investors began eyeballing technology that is revolutionizing construction.

New eBook: Digital Credentialing & The Future of Work

By Mike Murphy on November 8, 2019

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation will undoubtedly impact the future of America’s workforce by making many jobs easier, and others completely obsolete. However, these technologies will have an uneven impact across each industry. Occupations in professional services (legal, science, academics), and “deskless” industries such as architecture, construction, plumbing, childcare, medical services, social work, and more, are more likely to see an increase in the number of available jobs.

Bulk uploads with Merit: Issue thousands of merits in minutes!

By Merit on August 7, 2019

Do you issue certificates, licenses, or credentials? More importantly, do you send them in bulk?

If your answer is yes, then you know how difficult it is to send credentials one-by-one, even if you do it digitally. That’s why Merit created a tool for this very case – spreadsheet upload, our bulk upload tool. And hey, we’ve just made some powerful improvements to make the whole process even easier!

How does this feature work?

In a nutshell, the upload spreadsheet tool enables you to send dozens (or even thousands) of merits at once.

All you have to do is follow these basic steps:

  1. Create a merit template: This template represents the credential, license, or certificate that you need to send.
  2. Upload a merit template spreadsheet to Merit: This spreadsheet should include the recipient’s name, merit title, and other important fields for your credential.
  3. Send your merits: Once your spreadsheet is fully uploaded, click Send to share them with your recipients!

What improvements have been added?

Merit has just made some helpful updates to the upload spreadsheet tool to make your life easier!

  • The feature now offers a built-in guide that walks you through each step of the process.
  • You can now download a specific spreadsheet that corresponds with the merit template you want to send so there's no need to manually add fields to your spreadsheet.
  • You can also map your merit fields to any column in your spreadsheet, even if they don’t match or aren’t in the same order.
  • In cases where your spreadsheet has errors, you can download these errors to quickly identify and fix them.

Ready to get started?

To dive in, navigate to the Send Merits folder in the Organization Portal and choose the Upload Spreadsheet tab.

Spotting the Truth in a World of Lies

By Merit on February 11, 2019

We expect white lies in our everyday lives and have become accustomed to not necessarily believing everything we hear. Whether it’s someone’s description on a dating app or a resume for work, we take what we hear with a grain of salt. Some people fiercely filter information for fabrications, exaggerations, plagiarism, white lies, and most of all: deception. But as one study suggests, we are on average only able to catch 54% of lies. Strikingly, in the same study, trained police officers, judges, and FBI agents weren’t that much better than the average person.

Merit Magnific: Chris Geiler
